About the Book
Alf Kirk was a member of the Loyal Lancashire Regiment. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese Empire in Singapore, on the 15th February 1942. This is his story of survival.

He was held at several POW camps during the next three and a half years including Changi on Singapore Island, Keijo in Korea and Kobe House and Motoyama on the mainland of Japan.

He was brought up in Wymeswold, Leicestershire by his parents Roger & Janet Kirk, where he lived a relatively stress free life, he then married Dawn in 1996. He has a thirst for Family History, Northern Soul and riding the roller coaster that is following is local Football Club, Leicester City. He also enjoys walks in the local Bradgate Park and amateur photography. During the day he works as a Network Engineer originally with Eaton & now with Park Place Technologies, some of the world's largest electronic companies & at night he is just the imbecile who cannot even load the dishwasher properly !
