The University of South Florida’s SACD Design/Build Program is designed to take students out of the classroom, and get them involved in a hands-on building environment. In addition to the benefits of on-site experience, students are also actively involved in improving the quality of civic life in the local community.





The Design/Build course is a two-part sequence, in which students work with clients to design and build a structure. In the 2007-2008 academic school year, the SACD Design/Build program was happy to team up with Temple Terrace’s Parks and Recreation Department, to design and build the main pavilion for the city’s new Riverfront Park. Our design/build team, comprised of 12 graduate students from SACD, spent Fall 2007 semester, designing the pavilion, testing materials, conferring with the client and engineer, and preparing construction documents. In Spring 2008, the construction phase was executed by the students under the direction of Design/Build program director, Stanley Russell AIA.







This portfolio, is a compilation of our design-build processes and experiences throughout the 2007-2008 school year.
