About the Book
Kelly Witmer works primarily in watercolor and glass, two mediums that share molecular similarities and unforgiving natures. In her glass sculptures, she melts sheets of glass into ceramic or steel forms in the kiln, pushing the material to its limits and catching it at precisely the right temperature before it breaks. Her watercolor paintings involve a similar element of chance and unpredictability, creating what she describes as "a tournament between myself, the pigment and water."
