    About the Book

    Edit

Print Catalog of Fuerte! exhibition at the Los Angeles Makery, March 2024. The Fuerte! exhibition was conceived and curated by Eva Montealegre, with help from co-curator Betty Brown. It features ten accomplished women artists who grapple with everything from the immensity of the cosmos to the relations of time, space, and matter; from the biological realm to the crows that fly over it; to the physical objects with which we surround ourselves: earrings, silver spoons, and lacey negligees. They employ traditional Fine Arts materials (oil paint, metal sculpture, etc.) as well as "non-art" materials (rusted tools, abandoned wooden detritus, paper torn from vintage books, etc.) Their remarkable range of media combines with technical precision to create a collection of powerful artworks. As arranged at the Makery, this visual medley is Fuerte indeed!
