    About the Book

    Edit

Sixº (Six Degrees), is a self-published magazine collection that prioritizes personal narrative, individuality, and the connection of people who are viewed as unalike, yet are uniquely similar. The overall concept stems from one person, as the connectivity points to five other individuals with definitive lives and backgrounds. Think Six Degrees, to Kevin Bacon. Each issue will showcase a different six; their journey through their personal lives, and how they live today. This includes their passions, dreams, and hardships, that they each have faced. All the while, providing advice on how to navigate the world we live in now– Six Degrees was created in order to make the world live in, feel a little bit smaller; where no one is completely alone. Here, a six is always nearby. They’re connected, even when people may not feel or see it that way. Six Degrees was made to reach all people, specifically, if they are in search of authenticity, creativity, and a space to explore humanity.

Art and design have always been the lynchpin of who I am. At three years old I would hide for hours and come back with piles of crayon drawings on printer paper. At six I told my kindergarten teacher I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. In my older years, art was the way I would escape the world around me. Being from a small town in Michigan I found myself often alone in what I loved to do. Therefore, when I was accepted into Columbia College Chicago I knew almost instantaneously that I wanted to pursue Graphic Design and Creative Writing. Quickly into my first year at Columbia, I found my love for Social Media and Digital Strategies. These three passions drew out the side of my design that wasn’t afraid to take risks and be experimental. I found creating designs that broke the rules, that changed the way people thought about design inspired me. As a creative I am not afraid to tackle hard concepts, often I am excited to take on the challenge.t
