    A mini "coffee table" book illustrating Boulder, Colorado's special place in Colorado history. Including photos from the local Carnegie Library for Local History, along with sketches by the author, and a brief description that highlights the importance of the select photos and sketches. Photos include, but are not limited to, the first known photo of Boulder's Pearl Street taken in 1866, the University of Colorado's Old Main building standing alone on a hillside in 1876, the Flood of 1894 that wiped out downtown, University of Colorado's Old Main standing alone on a hillside in 1876, Ivy Baldwin tightrope walking above Eldorado Canyon, a vaudeville show production at the Curran Opera House in Boulder, Boulder's homegrown astronaut Scott Carpenter's parade, and in the 1980's the annual Kinetic Conveyance Race.

    Mark Hafen

    Mark is a long time resident of Boulder, Colorado. He is an architect and a local history buff. He was active in the local Boulder historic preservation community, and renovated a number cottages and buildings at the Colorado Chautauqua In Boulder. Recently as a volunteer at the Carnegie Library for Local History he had the opportunity to explore the libraries extensive collection of archival photos. Mark is also an accomplished architect and artist who honed is sketching skills during tours of Europe, and specifically Italy and Scotland. Now he has brought this ability to capturing Boulder's spirit and history in quick, one-off and often times colorful sketches.
