Based on extensive photos taken by my Grandfather of WW1 France of his experiences of the horrors of war but also sweet touching portraits of French civilian life in a very difficult time. By bike, I trace each photograph on a 600 mile journey retaking the very same picture. This is an incredible story of before (1917) and after (2022) photos and the human element of support and kindness as the French locals guided me to my photographic destinations.
