About the Book
The color photographs of China from 1985 capture a time and place which is simply gone forever. Carol Harrison traveled to Beijing to attend a grand reception with the Mayor in the Forbidden City, where a juried exchange exhibit with photographs from China sent to Washington DC, and a selection of photographs from the Washington metropolitan area was sent to Beijing. Harrison went on to photograph in Guilin, and presented here is a fascinating look back in time at a China which is not recognizable today ! The photographs capture a breadth of the historical sites, the people in their daily lives, the back roads with the intimate vision of a photographer, sensitive and respectful of the traditions and people of China.
