    About the Book

    Edit

This photo book is a photographic record of a study trip by 11 friends to Andalusia, Spain. The emphasis of the trip was on the historical sights from the Roman period (Italica), the Moorish period and early Christian Renaissance.

Note: although this is primarily a photo book, all text is in Dutch. No translations are currently planned (sorry).

The book contains 240 photos (mostly taken by Peter van den Hamer with a Canon 5D Mk II). It also contains an original 11-page essay (again: in Dutch) by Drs. Ton Schneiders on the history of the region roughly up to the year 1492. In that year, not only did Columbus discover the Americas, but the last Moorish kingdom was (in this case peacefully) conquered by the Christian monarchs, thus leading the way to Spain as we now know it. Additional one or two-page essays are provided as introductions to the various chapters and sections. Furthermore an appendix contains thumbnails and detailed information about each photo.
