    About the Book

    Abstract Collages - Jan-Jun 2020
A collage featuring cutouts from old books or magazines will always retain hints of their source. A photograph of a tiger or a fish will always be a photo of a tiger or fish, even in the context of a complicated collage composition. The image will always be narrative, and the composition will always tend to be surreal, not abstract.
I’m interested in collage abstraction, creating images with flattened pattern, with rhythm in shape, line and color, with suggestion rather than literal image. I’m interested in removing the context of an image’s source. I’m looking for shapes that look as though they had meaning, but won’t reveal it.
This book is a short timeline cross-section of collage experiment, from January to June of 2020. The medium is found paper and cutouts covered with acrylic paint.
