"Hapa" is a Hawaiian word for someone of mixed ethnic ancestry. Voluptuary Media's principle photographer, Michael Laudini, set out on a 3-year journey to capture the unique beauty of the Hapa woman. This is the only book known to merge that beauty with moody, artistic professional photography. All images were captured with existing light, never harsh strobe light, which enhanced that artistic approach.

None of the women appearing in the book are professional models. Underpinned with an adventurous spirit, they represent many facets of society. For example, there is a practicing medical examiner, some are college students, a few Polynesian dancers, a few are proud moms.
