The Miller brothers hail from Troy, New York. More importantly, they come from a boxing family. Fighting is truly the family business.



Shannon and Shawn Miller’s father, Bob, founded the Uncle Sam’s Boxing Club in Troy. He still works as a trainer, and he has had a hand in the success of world-class fighters such as Verno Phillips and Kevin Pompey. Shannon and Shawn's mother, Lorraine, meanwhile, was Mike Tyson’s first promoter.



Shannon, the older of the brothers, had his first amateur bout when he was eight years old and he began his professional boxing career in 1992, when he was 18. In 2005, he was part of a fight that ESPN deemed “the

best heavyweight fight of the year” and in 2007 he fought for the WBC/USNBC Heavyweight Championship.



Shawn also has had a storied athletic career. He set records as a wide receiver (football) at Hudson Valley Community College and then went on to play baseball at West Virginia University. He followed that up by playing professional football (Albany Conquest, af2). He also won all 26 of his amateur boxing contests.



On July 31, 2009, Shawn made his professional boxing debut at the Saratoga City Center (Saratoga Springs, New York), taking on light heavyweight Zaid Malik. Shannon also was on the card, fighting Terrell Nelson.



The Fighting Miller Brothers: 1 Night, 2 Fights takes a look at that evening. It peers into the lives of modern-day gladiators, following Shawn and Shannon behind the scenes – and in the ring – as they carry on a brutal family tradition.
