    About the Book

    Edit

Lisa Wilkerson is an exceptional Californian photographer who lives in the natural paradise of Arroyo Grande, usually the physical basis of her colour saturated, lyrically inspired photos of the natural world that she transforms into defining moments of beauty. Lisa says "My motto in life is to leave things better than I found them. I've been in retail for many years owning shops and managing them. Serving the people and helping them find what their looking for. I discovered photography the after a tragedy and even though my life and heart felt broken I saw beauty all around me like I've never seen it before. Jeremy Reed played huge roll in helping see things through the eyes of a poet. Living in the moment respecting and loving what I saw helped me see miracles. Animals invited me to see what they were up to. The sky would open up with vibrant cloud formations. It was great comfort to be in nature and escape the reality I was facing. I used my photography cope with a huge loss and communicate with others. Later on I got to thank the firefighters who saved my life and home by creating a photography and poetry book with Jeremy Reed called the Big Orange Day. The book was embraced by my community. First Responder's, Mayors, Assemblyman, Congress and even the President of the United States met with me or sent letters supporting this book and cause. Everyone goes through something difficult in life. Through my experience I learned to celebrate the people around me, see beauty that was infront of me and not take anything for granted."
