Jane Rabe grew up in New York in a Greek family, and as a child shunned the offers her grandmother made to teach Jane the recipes she brought from Greece. After she married, Jane wanted to prepare these recipes for her family and turned to her grandmother for help. Her grandmother gave her the recipes, but one essential ingredient was missing from each one! Her first "authentic Greek meal" was a disaster. With the help of a Greek friend and other sources, Jane has reconstructed these recipes, and presents them, along with other notable recipes she has gathered, in this small book. The book includes pictures of her family and herself as a child, as well as more recent photographs of her current family and friends.
