In 1992 founded PMC-Sierra, Inc., (NASDAQ: PMCS) a privately funded Canadian based developer of complex telephony and data networking semiconductor devices. I served as a director, CEO and President for about its initial two years of this very successful fabless semiconductor Co. & then as Vice-president of Sales and Marketing until retiring at the end of 1996. Twenty years earlier, in 1976, I founded Mitel Semiconductor, which was renamed Zarlink Semiconductor (NYSE-ZL) where I served as Vice-president and General Manager and then as Executive Vice-president of Mitel Corporation, a leading manufacturer of telephone switching equipment and semiconductors. Leaving Mitel in 1983, I later joined a privately funded start-up firm in California developing data security software products, RSA Security (NASDAQ-RSAS in 1996), as an investor, a director, CEO and President until 1987. By early 2016 both Zarlink Semiconductor and PMC-Sierra had been acquired by Microsemi Corp. (NASDAQ-MSCC).
