About the Book
Thanks to its discovery at the end of the ninetheen century, Cappadocia has preserved its beauty intact until today, without having been transfigured by the modern attitude of "hit and run" tourism.
Here, in a particular way, the landscape requires the traveler to be able to contemplate more than to see; the gaze must always be reflective, never hurried. The gait must be slow and meditated, becoming emotion, wonder, desire to explore, curiosity to discover, joy to observe.
The natural elements relate to the human figure that inhabits them and lives them. And the human figure helps to understand the impressiveness of the natural elements that are the real actors of the scene.
Cappadocia is extraordinary because it can still be discovered. You walk among vineyards, small orchards, bundles of wild herbs, then crossing a small entrance that opens in the rock wall, you find a world of paintings. The invitation to those who visit it is to find that Cappadocia, which is not yet consumed, waiting to offer itself and to be discovered. In spite of the signs of abandonment of traditional landscapes and the new uses of mass tourism, these valleys represent today the measure and the meaning of a place that is the memory of an ancient civilization devoted to living in balance between nature and culture, and whose value goes beyond any national border.
