About the Book
Written as a dark fairy tale, Bat + Iguana follows Governor Avanti Washington's troubled son, Robert—or "Ajax"—after he is greeted by a seven-foot-tall anthropomorphous reptile named Creach, who gives Ajax a Blood Watch. While its sole purpose is to monitor Ajax's life-force, the Blood Watch slowly starts to drain as time progresses, leaving the sixteen-year-old with very little time left in his world. Determined to save Ajax from being swallowed by the Eventide, Creach ushers Ajax into the dark world known as Midnight World where the sixteen-year-old's story will be revealed; however, after a sudden revelation, Ajax suspects that Creach has another, more malicious agenda. And it all revolves around an accident that happened many years ago.
Told through the eyes of Ajax, Bat + Iguana is a haunting tale about the horrors and beauty of the American spirit and all of its faults—and strengths.
