Mirroring Carl Jung’s Shadow Archetype, ‘Shadow Aspect’ attempts to photographically depict the integration of one’s shadow. This integration happens in a 3-step process beginning with encounter, moving to merger, and concluding with assimilation. The Shadow itself is the dark side of the repressed subconscious, where the less desirable aspects of ourselves exist. If the shadow is not acknowledged and confronted, the more likely it is that it will be negatively realized in one’s self-identity, instead of integrated.
