Even though James had been to a number of raves in the early 1990's it wasn't until James went to Back II Basics in Leeds, Angels in Burnley and Club UK in London that James really started taking dance music / dance culture seriously. That inspired James to start buying records in 1993 and 1994 and start mixing music in 1994 and 1995 and then to eventually put on his own club nights in 1996 and 1997.

This book has a few mixes from 1993, 1994 and 1995 but it is really all about the years 1996 and 1997. The book contains some bits of graphic design, backdrops designs and offshoot illustrations and paintings that were created in Alkmaar, Holland and exhibited in Bergen, Holland between 1997 and even 1998.

The mixes and club nights were great fun to do and put on. The illustrations and paintings are based on the backdrop designs created for the club nights mentioned inside. The style is nothing but an attempt to create very trippy-techno images for club interiors and convert them into illustrations and paintings. The graphic design, backdrops, illustrations and paintings are also an early precursor to ending up doing graphic and web design between 2000 and 2003. Some work for this book was recreated in 2020.
