About the Book
This photo book captures the resilience and creativity of dancers who, despite the constraints of quarantine, found new ways to express themselves. The images showcase dancers wearing masks and performing outdoors, highlighting their ability to transform limitations into opportunities for growth. With studios closed and mirrors out of reach, these artists turned inward, drawing on inner strength and engaging with their surroundings in innovative and profound ways.
Dancing in Quarantine is a testament to the enduring spirit of the dance community, illustrating how art can flourish even in the most challenging circumstances. Each photograph is a powerful reminder that the drive to create and express cannot be easily stifled. This book is not just a collection of images, but a celebration of resilience, adaptation, and the unyielding passion of dancers worldwide.

About the Creator
As an Iranian woman, dance has woven its way through the fabric of my life, serving as both sanctuary and voice in a society that stifles individual expression. My journey began in the shadows of Iran, where movement was both an act of defiance and a whisper of hope. Transitioning from covert sessions to stages across the United States, dance became my refuge, empowering me to defy societal norms through self-expression. I persistently highlight the violation of women’s rights in Iran, despite skepticism from fellow Iranians. As an immigrant in the U.S., books have been a source of solace, expanding my understanding and fueling my passion for dance and advocacy. Now, through collaboration and teaching, I use dance to heal and foster societal dialogue, merging literature with the transformative power of movement
