According to Wikipedia, a tribute act, tribute band or tribute group is a music group, singer, or musician who specifically plays the music of a well-known music act. Tribute acts include individual performers and bands who mimic the songs and style of an artist, such as Elvis, The Beatles or Michael Jackson.

Many tribute bands, in addition to playing the music of a specific artist or group, also try to emulate the stage styles, equipment, lighting, special effects and overall appearance of that group, to make as close an approximation as possible.

Bands and music acts that pay tribute to our all-time favorite idols, many times put a creative spin on their band names, with just enough variance as to not infringe the real band's moniker. With names like "Zeppelin Experience" or "Slippery When Wet," astute music fans know just who these tribute groups are paying tribute to.

During the past three years as "official" photographer for the Fairmont (MN) Opera House, I have photographed nearly two-dozen tribute groups performing at the historic venue located in this agricultural community of Southern Minnesota.

This collection of images was captured during live shows between 2017 and 2020.
