    About the Book

    Edit

This book about one of important Turkish festival which is celebrated in 5th of May, that is called Kakava and Hidirellez Festival.

Hidirellez is celebrated as the day on which the prophets Hizir and Ilyas met on earth according to Islam religion.

In the meantime, it celebrates the arrival of summer. People pray on this day whatever their wishes are. They draw or write their wishes on one paper by confidentially then they throw the Tunca River and then they arrive festival area and continue their celebrates. Many photographers works in Festival area. But I’d like to share behind the festival like how the Romani’s peoples preparing for festival and what they do after festival. This project took 2 years between 2018-2019 years.

I am grateful to everyone that I met and have photographed for this book.
