About the Book
In 2001, when the first edition of this same book was published by Schwarzkopf and Schwarzkopf (“Erster Akt – Junge Frauen in Berlin”), Berlin still resembled a Cold War frontier town. It had not turned into a boomtown yet, but was a bohemian makeshift affair, marked by license and ambition. So much has changed, Berlin has settled down, and the wild girls of the Zero Years have grown into women. Photography itself has gone digital. Gathered in this retrospective are those of the original pictures that have stood the test of time, along with others overlooked back then and a slew of lovely faces captured since.
