THIS narrative does not aspire to be a complete or learnéd
history of Naples, neither does it attempt to be an
exhaustive ‘tourist guide’ of this fascinating city (there
is a number of excellent guides for the curious). This is simply
our perspectives of an amazing place and its surrounds: from
stories of the mythical and pre-historical, through some of the
historical accounts of the intervening centuries, to a
photographic account of today. We just want to share our views
and experiences and to celebrate what we have come to know
better to be a place that is clearly wonderfully vibrant,
challenging, and deeply enigmatic. And we want to say ringrazia
molto—‘a big thank you’—to Partenope and to the people of this
marvellous city.
