Linda Jane’s new book Dark Waters | Photographs of Paper Service Limited. It is a collection of photos she took at my mill Paper Service Co. Limited in Ashuelot, NH. She was the girl next door when the mill was running. The mill began in 1880. It was forced to close when the dam run by Algonquin Power collapsed onto the mill in Oct. 2005. The dam was rebuilt with FEMA funding and the town of Winchester, NH. The mill stayed closed after the flood. Linda Jane asked to visit the mill and shot at the mill several times. She married into the Paper Service family- her children’s grandfather Ken was a Forman making tissue paper . Grandmother Celia worked converting paper. Sadly the mill that had produced paper through two world wars became mired in a legal battle that lasted several years. Clocks and calendars were still on walls in the mill frozen in time.
