In the 1950's I was a student attending Ryerson University studying Engineering. One day while taking a break from being on campus I was walking down Yonge Street in downtown Toronto where I looked in the front window of a camera store. The various pictures and cameras had caught my attention and thought "I should buy one of those." And so I did. That day I bought my first camera for about $25. And the rest is well ... history.
