About

Mesa is an artist, illustrator, and animator based in Seattle and DC, though she spends most of her time living and working from different locations around the world.  She specializes in visual storytelling - especially in medical and scientific subject matter and has a passion for communicating difficult subjects and solving visual puzzles.  

Mesa grew up in Seattle WA, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest where she developed a love for science and art. She holds a degree in Anthropological Science with a specialization in Anatomy and Archaeology from Stanford University (2008).  She earned a Graduate Certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington (2012), studied fine art at GAGE Academy in Seattle, and most recently earned a MA from the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine at Johns Hopkins Medical School, (2015).

Mesa has illustrated for National Geographic, Scientific American, The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural Histo
