About
Matt is the artist and director of 100 Faces of War Experience, a project he started in the spring of 2005 (see the website). Since the beginning of this project people have routinely asked for a book version of the 100 faces project. Here it is!
Matt's recognitions include:
-Display of a portrait at the National Portrait Gallery, a Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC for one year starting October 2009
-American Artist feature article, Sept. 2007 describing his portraiture technique
Previous to working on the 100 Faces project Matt worked as an Illustrator for a wide variety of publishers. Previous to that incarnations of his interest in public-oriented art included collaborative construction projects with fellow artist Perre Dicarlo and community gardeners in Manhattan's lower east side as well as meticulously hand painted subway maps meant to be installed in New York City subway cars.
He received a BFA from Pratt Institute 1993
