About

Fine art, photography and informed, entertaining writing.

I create artworks in a range of media ranging from large oil paintings to small woodcuts and scraperboard works, mainly focusing on landscapes and natural subjects. I also use photography to help open the eyes of the viewer to see, understand and appreciate often-overlooked elements of the world around us - even, for example, on the commute to work. This focus on the environment reflects my other area of activities, namely wetland conservation and wise use, particularly the conservation and wise use of peatlands, a theme running through much, though by no means all, of my current professional writing.

A month spent in Brittany living on a boat the size of a small wardrobe features in my personal writing, together with a series of poems written while stuck on a great many delayed commuter trains - entitled 'Poems of Love, Blood and Death'...
