About the Book
When does one bake? Why does one bake? Basically it to celebrate life in whatever manifestation is presenting itself before us: small moments as well as large, noisy ones. Opening up Sheila’s recipe box put me right in the middle of that crowded kitchen in Yorktown with family milling around, and the anticipation of pleasure as puffs of powders filled mixing bowls and aromas filled the air.
Therecipes in this book are quick and simple and wonderfully subtle in flavors. They are meant to be an accurate reflection of mid century cooking, a time that, perhaps because it was simpler in resources, seems now to be richer in memories... Trust the recipe!
