About the Book
The web site Nottingham21 (www.nottingham21.co.uk), was launched in September 2006 with a collection of about 300 photographs and a Google ranking that was totally non-existent. Since then it has steadily grown both in terms of size and popularity and has been featured in both the local press and on BBC local radio. It now presents over 2,250 pictures of The City of Nottingham with, after finally toppling the mighty BBC into second place, a No.1 Google ranking for a search on 'Nottingham Pictures',
The first years of the 21st Century have been been a period of considerable change and re-generation for the City of Nottingham and the prime aim of the web site was to record as much as possible of the old Nottingham before it was lost to history. This book features some of the best photographs to be found on Nottingham21 and, like the web site, in addition to many shots of old Nottingham, some of the new developments that have and are still taking place in the city have been included here.
This book is in response to enquiries from several visitors to the site who asked if such a publication was available. Now that it is, I hope that it might also reach a wider audience in its own right.
I hope that you enjoy looking at the photographs.
