    About the Ebook

In 1647, during the War of the Three Kingdoms, a shocking event took place at Dunaverty Castle on the tip of the Mull of Kintyre that has slipped - largely forgotten - into the blood-stained history of the Scottish Highlands. 300 MacDonald associated clansmen, along with a further 200 or more women, children, and old folk - more than 500 in total - were brutally massacred after they agreed to put down their weapons and emerge, unarmed, from the besieged castle upon assurances of clemency. Only two are recorded to have escaped: an infant, and his wet-nurse. This short novella, written by a direct 10th generational descendant of that lone surviving infant - Ranald MacDonald of Sanda (V) - spins a fictional account of the love affair between Ranald's parents, Archie and Flora, of the events that led to the siege and the massacre, and of Ranald's escape to Antrim in Ireland. The story is based on, and supported by, the documented historical records of the time, presented as an Appendix.
