There are two Peter von Ziegesars represented in this book, Peter the elder brother and Peter the younger. They are brothers by way of a marriage of their father to a first and second wife. The two brother where children of a privileged New York City family. One lives homeless on the street and the other is a writer film maker currently living in Brooklyn.
