About the Ebook
airy Folkes born in 1924, is a self taught Australian artist living in West Sussex, England. Fairy began her artistic pursuits at a young age, submitting her silhouette drawings of woodland creatures for a prize awarded by the Sydney newspaper. As Fairy got older, her works transitioned from drawings of flowers and fairies to those of fashionable ladies that mirrored her own beginnings as a fashion model in Australia. Fairy Folkes, named Sydney's most photographed model 1948, rose to prominence in the fashion world at a young age and set aside her career as an artist to focus on her modeling pursuits. Fairy was featured in many magazines and even competed for a spot in the Miss Australia pageant. Although Fairy never returned to her career as an artist, her drawings are a defining part of her life and represent her passion both for art and ladies' fashion. Fairy, now 96 and the grandmother of three, lives with her two cats in the English countryside and is very involved in the lives of the animals who live both in her house and in the woods behind her garden.
