Stefan Richter, formerly a biologist, is a German photographer with publications in Du, Geo, Newlook, Photo, Playboy, Stern, Sunday Express Magazine, The Independent Magazine, Vogue etc. He worked from 1983 until end of the 90s on the body arts. Prints of his work are in the collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale Paris, Maison Européenne de la Photographie Paris, Musée de l’Elysée Lausanne, San Francisco MoMA, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, MoMA New York, and numerous private collections. His work was exhibited in Aberdeen, Amsterdam, Cologne (Photokina), Derry, Edinburgh, Fribourg, London, Munich, Paris, Plymouth and Ravenna. He is the author of Tattoo (Quartet, London/New York 1985), The Art of the Daguerreotype (Viking/Rizzoli, London/Milan 1989), Hidden Exposures (De Vaar, Dordrecht 1994).
