Almost a year since its inception, this book has been published as a companion piece to the exhibition at the TAC Gallery, Tulsa, Oklahoma opening on 3rd August 2012.

The exhibit showcases the photography of Nige’ Ollis and works on paper by Michelle Firment Reid. The works on paper are inspired from specific coastal photographs by Ollis, taken along the deserted beaches of Cornwall, England and Pembrokeshire and The Gower, Wales.

Ollis and Reid both have an affinity and emotional connection to the sea. This body of work takes a look at different perspectives on the same scene. As a studio artist, Reid worked from coastal images seen through the lens of Ollis, pulling from his own interpretation and then navigating her own way through paint.

Nige’ Ollis resides in Bristol, England, and Michelle Firment Reid resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The artists have neither met nor spoken; their mutual admiration simply grew through correspondence borne via the Internet. Together Alone seemed wholly appropriate, inspired by an Ollis image title.

They will meet for the first time a few days before the exhibition's opening.
