About the Book
In the autumn of 2016, I visited Oxford in England as part of a project realised by the [( 6 )] collective with the aim of producing a collective body of work to be exhibited in a different Oxford, in Canada.
We each went our own way. I could have visited the many tourist spots, the universities, the museums, or the rivers I fished when I was a boy. I could have done many things, but I decided to play Pokémon Go.
Rob™ is a photographic artist living in the rural North-West of England. After leaving school, I studied graphic design before moving into a career in engineering, initially as a designer and subsequently as a certification specialist. A number of years ago, I picked up a camera again in order to break away from the rigid constraints and structure of the technical and back into something more creative. My aim is to record the journey, the road trip, getting from A to B geographically, temporally or metaphorically, and the things I see whilst I'm on that journey. Another recurring subject is what has been termed the “mundane” or "neutral"; those everyday things we fail to notice until someone makes an image and we are asked to stop and consider them. Occasionally I'll even try different things. My work has been exhibited around the UK, and work is held in both public and private collections in the UK and Europe.
