Xerxes, the king of Persia, was murdered in 465 BC, but this graphic novel takes the story as it was adapted by the 18th-century poet Pietro Metastasio. He transformed history into one of the most popular opera plots of the age, full of friendship, loyalty, villainy and vengeance.
