Alexandra is a photographic practitioner and researcher and has been teaching photography for over 20 years. She has a background in editorial photography for publication and in fine art practice having exhibited in group and solo shows in the UK, Germany and South Africa. Alexandra’s current practice-led research explores connections between photography and representations of the natural history museum collection, particularly regarding the preservational properties of print-making processes. Her work is mixed media and incorporates contemporary digital and moving image as well as traditional print processes. Alexandra’s field work explores museum collections in both the US and the UK and in her research accesses a range of cultural theories from metapsychology, museology and visuality as well as writings on nineteenth-century photography.
