About the Book
In 2016 the authors of this book were privileged to be asked to attend the homage to the forming of the International Brigades 80 years ago to fight the advance of General Franco and his fascist army in the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939. The book describes the events leading up to the Spanish Civil War and ultimately to the outbreak of WW2 in 1939. Many people from different countries in the world, particularly those people in Spain, gathered together in Cordoba, in Andalusia, to visit the various battle sites and pay homage to those who joined the International Brigades to oppose the advance of fascism across Europe.
The book is clearly written in both English and Spanish and cover events in Europe leading up to the Civil war and ultimately to WW2. The book is profusely illustrated to record the proceedings in each of the five sites that were visited.

Scotland
I was born near Halifax in Yorkshire and grew up in the small village of Sowerby high on the Pennine hills. I received my first bicycle as a birthday present when I was thirteen years old. It led me to want to explore the world around me and then to extend my adventures during the rest of my life to traveling in all its forms. I took up sailing and mountain walking and emigrated to new Zealand and then to Australia for twenty years. I returned to live on the Isle of Skye where I ran a B&B business and now live in Galloway by the sea in beautiful South West Scotland.
