    About the Book

    Edit

QUI ACCIPERINT GLADIUM is a two-part historical and cultural study as well as celebration of living art. Issued as a limited fundraising run in print and digital copy in the spirit of the Church’s votive tradition and in celebration of sovereign liberty and patrimony after a quarter of a millennia of the American Republic and 80 years of Philippine Sovereignty on the same date:

After examining the fundamental and indispensable role that the sword and swordsman played in establishing the modern and sovereign order of patrimony and liberty, Volume II makes a lighter-hearted examination of the sword’s ancient and symbolic role, intimately and forever intertwined with the swordsmith’s and metallurgist’s mystery and art.

From Scripture to sport and satire to sartorial decorum, the sword forever remains a treasured object of ceremony that yet exists beyond our cultural borders as a living and unbroken art, sacred object and status symbol. Volume II revives an ancient and Old World symbolic milieu that existed in continuity with these ancient, pre-modern cultures as a bridge to the beyond…past, present and future!
