About the Book
In Ancient Greece, distinguished philosophers dedicated themselves to the study of faces. Aristotle even elaborated theories on how someone's features reflected his spirit: "Soft hair was a sign of cowardice, while thicker a sign of courage". The audacity, could be found if a person had "bright eyes, wide open and with bloodshot lids". A broad nose was seen as indicative of laziness, a little like the snout of ruminants. Today, we are advised not to judge anyone by appearance. "Whoever sees faces doesn't see hearts". But some psychologists are convinced that the face is a door to the best kept secrets. Faces and Places evades the temptation to pass through that door. But rather, he looks for the "room of mirrors", where the various expressions and gestures are imaginary emotions of legitimate places with
ordinary people who live in places as close as they are distant and that do nothing more than keep the flame of life alive.
