About

Dale Rio obtained her MFA in photography from Pratt Institute in 1996. In 1997, she was awarded a Fulbright Travel Grant and the Miguel Vinciguerra Grant to shoot life in rural Sicily. She has continued to travel extensively and has worked as a freelance photographer and writer for over fifteen years.
Dale's photographic work is varied. She has been shooting the world of burlesque for nearly ten years, has a landscape series about historic Route 66, began documenting the Japanese tea ceremony in 2008, photographs wild horse herds, recreates crime scenes with the feel of vintage images, and shoots roller derby in the capacity of owner, editor, and contributor for Blood & Thunder Magazine.
She has also done portraiture, promotional and fashion photography, and live performance photography commercially.
