Mr. Murphy led Maryland’s discipline reform, dropout prevention, and alternative programs efforts at the Maryland State Department of Education. Including regulatory implementation and development of a statewide code of discipline. He has been instrumental in reducing Maryland’s number of suspensions by 50% over the last 8 years thus reducing Maryland’s dropouts over the past 9 years.
Robert has trained for organization such as to the American Public Health Association, Missouri Health Equity Collaborative, Mid Atlantic Equity Consortium, National Association of School Boards of Education, University of Saskatchewan, Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, America’s Promise Alliance, The Mid Atlantic Regional Educational Laboratory, the Council of State Governments, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), East Durham Children’s Initiative (EDCI), and many other organizations.
He served on the Council of State Government School Discipline Consensus Project workgroup.
