About

Although my books are not about me, there is inevitably a lot of ‘me’ in them. Firstly, growing up in a small village in Kent before going on to 'big' school in the nearby town of Gillingham; then later going to three universities. Secondly, my childhood in the 60s (The Beatles, The Stones, The Beach Boys, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett, Peter Sellars, Christopher Lee as Dracula, The Sound of Music and Oliver!) followed by my adolescence in the 70s (T-Rex, Pink Floyd, Morecambe & Wise and top of the bill, Monty Python - the nearest I ever got to religion!). Thirdly, literary influences such as: Carroll, Dickens, Orwell, Tolkien, and, my favourite, P. G. Wodehouse. Next, my years living and working abroad: Hong Kong, Japan and Germany mostly, but also Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Switzerland, the States and Australia. Finally, the land of myth and incredible beauty that is Northumberland where I now reside along with my lovely wife, Karen, and dog, Lucky.
