About

I have a love of both open landscape and the built environment. I’m interested in the marks people leave behind. My practice is informed by memory and shared social histories. The research into an area or subject forms an important part of the creative process and often highlights the mundane or apparently inconsequential, all those important little things that make up our world.

I work mainly with a digital camera but still love to retreat into my darkroom and to work with 19th century photographic techniques and alternative processes. I like to experiment and explore the possibilities of new and old techniques. Despite careful planning, ‘happy accidents’ happen and perhaps these excite me the most as often they lead to more interesting work and untried pathways.

Recently I’ve been combining photography with printmaking techniques and laser cutting to produce multimedia artworks or textiles as a means of elaborating and informing the understanding of a piece of work.
