KENNETH L. PARKER learned about the outdoors in scouting activities in Colorado and at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Other favorite hiking places are New Zealand, the Maritime Alps of Italy and France, and the Canadian Rockies. He has a physics degree from the Univ. of Colo., and other degrees from the Universities of Oregon and Virginia. Now retired, he has been employed by NASA, Burlington Industries, and the State of North Carolina.
