About the Ebook
Welcome to the 2017 edition of Authorised. In this edition, this theme of nature connects our collection of three writers: Henry Shaw, Amy Dinsmore and Geraldine Foley. Shaw’s work, like that of Ted Hughes, evokes the primordial force of a landscape; to be of land rather than merely in it. Dinsmore’s poem ‘Raindrops’ presents us with the traditional conceit however, her style opens us up to a more modern notion of introspection. Finally, Foley’s Short story is a lament for our ancient connection to our landscape and with it, the loss of respect for our primitive beauty.
The writers in this collection share a common passion for an exploration and they ask us: what has become of the human place in the landscape? The answer they give, it would seem, is that we still have much to learn, much to appreciate and much to be grateful for.
