About the Ebook

About the Creator
Frances Hatch trained at Aberystwyth University College of Wales and Wimbledon School of Art, London. Born in the Isle of Ely, she now lives in Weymouth, Dorset close to the sea. Frances relishes direct contact with landscape and welcomes the participation of weather in her work. She lives near some wonderful landscape along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. 'Direct work in the landscape is central to my practice. With each site I meet, its geology offers a unique palette and demands something particular of me. By foraging for tools and pigments I make discoveries about a place that I might otherwise miss. If I return, even a day later, a different set of possibilities arise because I'm different and I'm encountering matter, water, light and air that continually fluctuate'. She exhibits nationally and is a Senior Tutor at West Dean College, West Sussex
