About the Book
The same story can be told a thousand times, but that doesn’t mean that it’s true.
“Gym-slip mums”, “teen mums”, “babies having babies” – the terminology may have changed, but the assumptions we make about “young mothers” have not.
Don’t they just do it for the council house and benefits?
Aren’t they just silly and promiscuous?
Don’t their kids grow up to be delinquents?
Featuring portraits and interviews with women of various ages and backgrounds, Young Motherhood gives you an opportunity to read firsthand what it is really like being a “young mum”. From relationships to education, from finances to aspirations, twenty-four amazing women talk candidly about their triumphs, the challenges they faced, and the lessons they learned along the way.
